Been a Long time

Its been a long time since I last posted something on this blog. Been really out of it for a while and trying to get back in it. But I decided, I won't be getting back into the music rat race. Lots of songs are released every day, and back in the past I was in the business of trying to ensure that I have all the chunes.... but I can't bother with that anymore. Quality of quantity mi seh!

People always say that its important for a dj to have certain songs etc... but you know what? Though I like mixing I am not really into parties... and I dont think I want to be a party or play out dj. I am more into mixing and "mix tapes"...

So going forward, I really only gonna acquire songs which I like, those which I think are worth listening to. No more getting chunes just for the sake of the jugglin.

When ever I come across a something worth sharing... I'll post it here.

iRiddimz : Bottle Party

Those of you who use to feature wiggzmixes from back in the day, know that from time to time I share what I called an iMix. Well today (well last night) I decided to change the name from iMix to iRiddimz, reason being that, iMixes were essentially medleys of riddims. Reggae and Dancehall is mostly released as riddims. So you have a riddim (what Americans call a beat) and then you have lots of songs on the riddims. Riddims are built for juggling (well in my view anyways), so its nicer to have them mixed as opposed to listening to 10 FULL songs on the same riddim for example.

So in comes di ting called iRiddimz courtesy of yours truly dj wiggz. I won't do one for every riddim that I get, but just the ones that I think have a likkle vibez yuzimme. Y the "i" well the iRiddim is intended for use on your iPod (and none apple made mp3 players as well).

So first up in the series is the Bottle Party Riddim from TJ Records (@tjrecords). I like the riddim itself, but I think it needed some hotter chunes. Cop the iRiddim and form your own opinion.

I am not even sure why the Kartel chune is being released with this riddim as it sounds like a completely different riddim to me... but anyways is a decent chune.

Yow!! wad up massive. Yeah yeah, I know its been a while (almost like forever) since my last post, but don't give up on me just yet.

Its really getting difficult these days to find the time to do things I love, and want to pursue, yeah the 9-5 is killing me.. but yeah I know y'all ain't my shrinks.. you're here for the music right? Right...

But anywayz, dj wiggz has now officially gone Mac. That's right, I am now the proud owner of a brand new 2.6Ghz 15 inch Mac Book Pro (aluminium). So i just got my mixing software installed last night, and believe i've got massive performance improvements.... still in the process of getting all the software i need installed. I'm dropping something big by August first.. (i hope ;-) )

But in the mean time... while i was offline two hot new riddims drop on di dance hall scene, the fitness from the Big Ship family and the Tripple Bounce from zj chome. The fitness nice still, but the tripple bounce maaaaadd!!!! Definately the hotest riddim i have heard for the summer... I've got them iMixed for your listening pleasure.

Sometime last week, the broadcasting commission in Jamaica moved to ban certain songs from being played on public radio because they were deemed inappropriate. At the center of attention was Vybz Kartel and Spice's Ramping shop and the host of "Daggering" songs that have become so popular.

Vybz Kartel wrote a letter to the editor of the Jamaica Gleaner to express his disagreement with the move.

He has now recorded a song to hit out against the move. The song sound good still.. but I don't think it will be played on radio. Pre it here.

Personaly I am not in agreement with a wholescale ban on all music that has been edited for airplay. Songs should be chosen for airplay based on content. Not all edited tunez are inappropiate.

Waa gwaan massive... Yes I acknowledge that is been a while since my last post, but I just recovering from a spyware/virus attack on my laptop, so spent pretty much the whole of last week getting my machine back online. (still haven't re-installed all my apps yet :( ) ... but enough of that. This post is all about the iMix...

The iMix was born out me not wanting to have all the individual tracks of a riddim loaded up on my iPod. An iMix is basically a short mix of a hot riddim. Dance Hall music these days is all about riddims.. A producer make a riddim and a whole heap of artiste go pon it.. So instead of having all these indivual tracks on your ipod, u load the iMix instead, this is a mixed version of the riddim and have more vibez than listening to individual trax... Dance Hall music is all about the jugglinz yu seet yu seet :)

Anywayz enough long talking, time for downloading.
